Fourth Annual Ten Second Film Festival
July 4, at The Soap Factory, after the St. Anthony Main fireworks
FREE
Submission deadline: Monday, June 23

Most of us have some sort of high tech object that has a funky little video mode on it. Be it a cell phone, a digital still camera, or some sort of fancy pen, video is definitely everywhere.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve got a slew of impromptu videos ranging from I-guess-you-had-to-be-there moments, to a number of spectacular views of the inside of my bag (accidentally turned the video on. We’ve all done it). Being able to shoot video whenever you want, does beg the question: what am I supposed to do with a bunch of ten second films?

The Soap Factory has the answer! We suggest you gather all those quirky, mini movies that have been hanging out on your sim cards and hard drives and mail them off to the Ten Second Film Festival! Then, we suggest that you join us on July 4 after the St. Anthony Main fireworks for a screening of the top 100 films. We promise an outdoor movie screen, music, a beer truck, tiki torches, and general 4th of July revelry. Judging from the 1500 people who showed up last year, I’d say we had a pretty good time.

Although the event is free, you can feel good about hitting up the beer truck, since all proceeds go to supporting The Soap Factory, one of the largest, rawest spaces for contemporary art in the Mid-West. If you haven't checked out the Soap Factory before, [here's your chance|www.soapfactory.org]!

Whether it’s an off the cuff video from your cell phone, or a painstakingly staged, choreographed, and scripted movie from your camera, send us your films by MONDAY, JUNE 23! Visit the Submissions and Rules section of this site for more information on submitting your work. Come on, you’ve got nothing to lose, except that video of your hamster taking a nap.
